We are conducting a Carnatic music workshop exclusively for the music enthusiasts of Raleigh bringing in one of the most sought after musicians from India, Kalaimamani Vidwan Shri K.N. Shashikiran of the popular "Carnatica Brothers" duo. The workshop will be conducted on May 7th/9^th 2015 in Cary NC

Whatever be your age or level of expertise, we have a module that would help you improve your musical talent. The contents of each module will be covered in multiple 60-minute sessions and the cost per session will be $25. Students can take as many sessions as they can to cover maximum contents for a module. Teachers are also welcome to participate in the relevant sessions.

Below is a rough schedule for the workshop and will be updated depending on the response. Please email the attached registration form with your interest indicating the sessions you will be taking. If you are a teacher, please have your students send the registration forms to me. Please RSVP before May 2nd 2015, so we can plan the sessions.

Sessions can be recorded and individual classes are available on request for specific learning and personal voice counseling sessions by appointment with Guru. Vidwan Shri K.N.Shashikiran. The workshop will be entirely taught by Vid. Shri. K.N.Shashikiran himself.

Here is an overview on what you will learn in the workshop within each module. Please note that the contents within each module will be covered in multiple sessions. Students can either attend one session or all the sessions for a module to cover as many topics as they can.

Beginners Module:

• Basic Voice Culture Exercises

• Practice Techniques and Exercises to build Swara Gnanam

• Simple Keerthanams, Nottuswarams, Namavalis and rare Geethams.

* Content will be decided based on the responses and level of the participants.

Intermediate Module:

• Voice Culture and Management.

• Varnams and Krithis of popular Composers.

• Manodharma Sangeetham - Introduction to improvisation techniques like Alapana, Kalpanaswarams and Neraval.

* Content will be decided based on the responses and level of the participants.

Advanced Module:

• Concert Presentation and advanced techniques in Manodharma Sangeetham (Alapana, Kalpanaswarams, Neraval and Pallavi singing)

• Voice Culture and Management - Advanced.

• Master pieces of great composers.

* Content will be decided based on the responses and level of the participants.
